This article explains how the Facebook Marketplace auto-posting product works, what you need to use it, and what its current limitations are.

1. What is the Facebook Marketplace auto-posting product?

The Facebook Marketplace auto-posting product lets you automatically publish your major unit inventory to Facebook Marketplace (and eligible Facebook buy/sell groups).

Key features:

  • Automatically posts up to 10 major unit listings per day.
  • Posts can appear on Facebook Marketplace and select Facebook Groups that the connected profile belongs to.
  • Units are automatically removed from Marketplace when removed from your inventory (e.g., sold).
  • Listings auto-renew weekly and are reposted after about a month to keep them fresh.

What you need:

  • A paid subscription to this Facebook Marketplace auto-posting product.
  • An active website or inventory management system that this product can connect to.

2. Do I need a personal Facebook profile to use this?

Yes. Facebook (Meta) requires a personal Facebook user account for Marketplace listings.

  • Facebook does not allow Marketplace postings to be created from business pages.
  • You must designate one individual’s personal Facebook profile that will be connected to the integration.
  • This profile will appear as the author of the Marketplace listings and will receive all leads via Facebook Messenger.

3. How does this work if I have multiple locations or multiple people posting?

Each Facebook profile and each dealership location requires its own separate product subscription.

Common scenarios:

  • One location, multiple users: If you want two different individuals (two different personal Facebook profiles) to be able to post inventory, you must purchase two separate subscriptions to this product.
  • Multiple locations, one Facebook profile: If you have two or more locations but plan to use one Facebook profile to post inventory for more than one location, you still need a separate subscription for each location. Inventory is specific to each location, so each must have its own product subscription, even if you reuse the same Facebook profile.

4. What information is required in each listing?

Facebook Marketplace requires that certain details be present in order for the product to schedule and publish posts:

  • Price
  • Mileage (minimum mileage 300mi) – if mileage is less than 300, our system will automatically update to 300 miles so FBMP will accept the listing
  • VIN
  • At least one photo

If these fields are missing for a unit, it cannot be posted to Facebook Marketplace until the information is completed in your inventory system.

5. How many units can be posted each day, and how is the posting order determined?

The product can post up to 10 units per day.

Posting behavior:

  • Each day, the system identifies 10 unpublished units and posts them to Facebook Marketplace.
  • You can choose your preferred posting strategy: Newest first (most recently received units) or Oldest first (units in inventory the longest).
  • The system continues chronologically based on your selection (newest or oldest) until all eligible units have been posted.

Current limitations:

  • There is no additional customization available for the posting order beyond “newest” vs. “oldest.”
  • You cannot manually prioritize specific units outside of your chosen strategy.

6. Can I choose which days of the week listings are posted?

Yes. You can select which days of the week you want listings to be posted.

  • On the days you choose, the product will post up to 10 units (subject to available eligible inventory).
  • On days you do not select, no new units will be posted.

7. Can I control whether new or used inventory is posted?

Yes. You can configure the product to:

  • Focus on new inventory only
  • Focus on used inventory only
  • Post both new and used major units

Your choice determines which units are considered when the system selects up to 10 units per posting day.

8. How are listings kept up to date? (Pricing, images, sold units)

The product automatically syncs your Marketplace listings with your inventory system.

Updates include:

  • Daily refresh: Pricing and images are updated daily when your inventory refreshes. Changes made in your inventory (price adjustments, new or updated photos) will appear on Marketplace after the next refresh.
  • Sold or removed units: When a unit is sold or otherwise removed from your inventory, it will be automatically removed from Facebook Marketplace.

No additional action is needed on Facebook to remove sold units.

9. How often are listings renewed or reposted?

To help keep your content active and visible:

  • Listings are auto-renewed weekly on Facebook Marketplace.
  • When a listing reaches about one month old, the product will expire the existing listing and create a new listing for that unit.

This automatic renewal and reposting helps keep your inventory appearing fresh to shoppers without manual intervention from your team.

10. Will my listings post into Facebook buy/sell groups as well?

They can, if the connected profile is a member of those groups.

  • The personal Facebook profile you connect must be a member of a group for listings to post in that group.
  • When this is the case, the product can automatically share your Marketplace listings to those groups on that user’s behalf.
  • Actual behavior is still subject to each group’s rules and Facebook’s policies for Marketplace and group postings.

11. Where do leads from Facebook Marketplace go?

All leads generated from your Marketplace listings are delivered to the Facebook Messenger account of the personal Facebook profile connected to the product.

  • Leads will not be automatically imported into your CRM or lead management system.
  • At this time, Facebook Messenger does not support direct integration to most CRMs or lead management platforms.

The designated Facebook user is responsible for monitoring Messenger, responding to customers, and manually entering leads into your CRM/tracking system if desired.

12. What are the main limitations and requirements I should be aware of?

Requirements:

  • Paid subscription to the Facebook Marketplace auto-posting product.
  • A designated personal Facebook profile (not a business page).
  • The Facebook profile should be active and a member of any groups you want listings to appear in.
  • Inventory units must include price, mileage, at least one photo and VIN to be eligible for posting.

Limitations:

  • Maximum 10 units posted per day.
  • Posting order can only be configured as newest-first or oldest-first.
  • No automatic lead import into CRMs or lead management systems.
  • Group posting is limited to groups where the connected profile is already a member.

13. Who should I contact for setup or support?

If you need help enabling, configuring, or troubleshooting this product, contact your account representative or our Support team.

  • Typical setup items include selecting the connected Facebook profile, choosing posting days, selecting new/used/both, and choosing newest-first vs. oldest-first posting order.
