DX1 can set default stock numbers for your major units when receiving, the codes below let you customize how the system auto generates the stock number. You can use a combination of preset and manual entry or you have the option to override the preset and manually generate all stock numbers to your liking.

NOTE: Only those users with the proper permissions may access and change the settings covered in this document

From the DX1 Dashboard click on the user initials in the upper right hand corner then choose Dealership Settings

Choose Major Unit Setting from the menu on the left

Choose the new or used VIN sequence format boxes

  • Codes available to use

    • “M” - used to insert part of the manufacturer of the unit being received

    • “V” - used to insert part of the vin of the unit being received

    • “N” - used to generate a system generated sequential number

    • “R” - uses the RIGHT side of the field specified (M or V)

    • “L” - uses the LEFT side of the field specified (M or V)

    • Number - this specifies how many values to grab

    • “%” - is used to spit up the fields

    • “.” - breaks up the fields between the value and how many fields are pulled

    • You can also use constant values in text form a common example is “U-” this can be used for Used units

  • An example is “%M.3L%%V.6R%

    • % - opens the formula

    • M - tells DX1 to look at the Manufacturer

    • “.” - separates the code being pulled and the value for how many/where

    • 3 - tells DX1 to pull 3 characters

    • L - tells DX1 to pull the left digits of the Manufacturer

    • % - closes the formula

    • % - opens the next formula

    • In this example if the unit was a Can-Am with a VIN = 3JBLGAT44KJ001766

      • The stock number DX1 generates would be “CAN001766”

  • Here are a few more examples you can use to cut and paste into DX1 to make your own codes

    • %N.6% - 6 digits that are system generated and sequentially counting up

    • %M.2R% - 2 digits from the RIGHT of the manufacturer
