The DX1 Commissions feature allows you to set up and configure default Commission Types and then apply them to MU Quotes and Deals at any point which enables you to clearly see how the commissions will impact overall deal profitability.


DX1 Commissions allow you to:

  • Set up default Commission Types for the dealership

  • Assign a Primary, Secondary and F&I Salesperson to each deal for more accurate commission reporting and deal management.

  • Automatically apply and where necessary split commissions if a default commission type is set.

  • View the estimated unit and invoice profitability with commission included.

  • Reporting after the deal has been posted.

  1. How to set a default commission type

    1. From the DX1 dashboard select the Commission Type tile in the Accounting module.

    2. Commissions can be set for F&I, MU Sales, and Parts and Service. Click the Edit pencil on the left to set the default amount for each.

    3. Set the Min Commissions Amount and Commissions Percentage then click Save

      1. Min Commission Amount: This is the minimum dollar amount the salesperson will be paid.

      2. Commissions Percentage: This percentage will be used to calculate the salesperson commission amount based on the sale profit.



  1. How to add or change a Primary, Secondary, and F&I Salesperson to a MU invoice.

    1. When in the major unit invoice you can use the drop-down options to set the Primary, Secondary, and F&I Salesperson.

    2. To deselect a salesperson use the corresponding drop-down and set the user to the “Please Select” option in the user list. It will be the first option at the top of the dropdown search.

    3. Note: If you find you cannot select or modify salespersons make sure the “Allow Salesperson Selection” is checked in your user settings.


  1. How to view and apply commissions when in a MU invoice.

    1. To view a salesperson commission value in the commission window a salesperson must first be set in the Primary, Secondary, or F&I Salesperson dropdowns in the major unit invoice.

    2. Click the menu in the upper right-hand corner then choose Commissions.

    3. If a standard commission type was set the selected salesperson will automatically show in the commission window and Primary Salesperson and Secondary Salesperson commissions will be split the standard commission rate 50/50 for MU Sales and Parts and Service.

    4. Note: Each time a modification is made to a salesperson in the MU invoice and the commission window is opened again, you will see the changes based on the selected salespersons in the MU invoice. Any previous manual changes will be overwritten.


  1. How to modify salesperson commissions in the commission window.

    1. To modify or delete an existing commission in the Commissions window you will select the pencil or trash can icon where you can make the desired changes to the Assign Commission window.

    2. Once the Assign Commission window is open you can make the necessary changes to the existing commission.

    3. Note: You will only be able to modify commissions for salespersons selected in the deal. You can add commissions for additional users once the deal is posted.

  1. Using commissions when no default commission type is set.

    1. If no default commission type is set there will be no salespersons commissions calculations shown when the commission window is opened. Users can add a commission by selecting the pencil icon in the commission window where they can select only users who are assigned as salespersons in the MU invoice. 

    2. Using the Assign Commission window users will have to choose what unit, salesperson, commission type, and amount to apply to the salesperson. When adding a secondary salesperson no commission splits will be made. The users must set each commission value per salesperson.

  1. How to view salesperson commissions deal profitability (Total Amount Due)

    1. To view unit invoice profitability, click the "Total Amount Due" hyperlink in the invoice details.

    2. Unit Profitability: Estimated Total Unit Commissions shown under the total unit profit line for each unit.

    3. Invoice Profitability: Invoice profitability is displayed in two ways:

      1. Total Invoice Profit (Parts/Service Included)

      2. Total Invoice Profit (Flooring and Commissions Included)

    4. Note: Commissions are calculated using this formula:

      1. MU Sale Profit for Commissions = (MU DSP + Setup DSP + Freight DSP + Other DSP + Trade-In Profit) - (MU Cost + Charge to MU Parts & Service + Trade-In Cost + Setup Cost + Freight Cost + Other Cost) - (Pack Amount)

  1. How to add or change commission after the deal is posted

    1. Once a deal has been posted you may add commissions for any user based on the default commission typeset or by a manual entry.

    2. You can also remove or edit any existing commissions that were assigned prior to the deal being posted.

    3. Note: This is the only place to add and apply commissions to users who are not set as salespersons in the MU invoice.


  1. How to view commissions in reporting.

    1. Click the reports tile in the Major Unit module.

    2. Open the report labeled Major Unit Sales Commissions.

    3. Set the desired parameters and click the “View report” button.


  1. How commissions are calculated.

    1. MU Sale Profit for Commissions = (MU DSP + Setup DSP + Freight DSP + Other DSP + Trade-In Profit) - (MU Cost + Charge to MU Parts & Service + Trade-In Cost + Setup Cost + Freight Cost + Other Cost) - (Pack Amount)
